Amid growing concerns over bars serving alcohol to minors, the Pune Excise Department has taken decisive action by filing chargesheets against two bar owners. The move comes after the tragic accident involving the minor son of builder Vishal Agarwal, who allegedly consumed alcohol at one of the establishments before the fatal incident.

The first chargesheet targets Sagar Chordia of Panchshil Infrastructure, operator of the Blak Club located at Marriott Suites in Koregaon Park. The Excise Department’s investigation, backed by CCTV footage spanning from May 17 to May 19, 2024, revealed instances of liquor being served to underage individuals at the bar. Additionally, during an inspection, essential registers required for Excise compliance were found missing, along with the absence of the authorized bar attendants’ list.

The involvement of builder Vishal Agarwal’s minor son, Vedant Agarwal, in the accident further underscored the seriousness of the issue. Vedant, aged 17 years and eight months, allegedly partied at the Blak Club before the tragic incident in Kalyani Nagar, where two individuals lost their lives.

Another charge sheet was filed against Prahlad Bhutada of Trillion, located in Ghorpadi. The CCTV footage of May 17 at this location was examined too. While investigating through the CCTV footage it was found that liquor is being supplied to minors at this place. Apart from this, there was no register being maintained. Also, employment letter was not provided and State Excise Department norms were not followed. When the officials of the State Excise Department demanded documents they were also not provided. Notice was issued before to the owner and recent action is not related to the incident.
