Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has defended NCP MLA Sunil Tingre amidst allegations of influencing the investigation into the Pune Porsche crash case to favor the accused juvenile. Pawar dismissed the accusations as unfounded, asserting that Tingre is prepared for any inquiry.

The crash, which occurred on May 19 in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, resulted in the deaths of two software engineers. Allegedly, a minor driving the Porsche, who was reportedly intoxicated, caused the accident. Tingre was accused of pressuring police after the incident, but Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that the investigation was not influenced by Tingre’s visit to the police station.

Ajit Pawar clarified that Tingre, as the local MLA, visited the site as part of his routine duties and did not attempt to suppress the matter. Pawar also stated that while he frequently communicates with the Police Commissioner on various issues, he did not make any calls regarding this particular case.

Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, overseeing the home department, instructed the Pune police to conduct a thorough investigation the day after the crash. Subsequently, actions were taken against police officials and staff at Sassoon General Hospital who were initially slow in processing the case. The hospital staff was accused of swapping the minor’s blood samples with those of his mother to falsify results, showing he was not drunk.

In the ongoing investigation, the minor has been sent to an observation home until June 5. His father, and grandfather, have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping the family’s driver and coercing him to take the blame. The teenager’s mother has also been arrested as part of the case.
