Pune: RMC Plant Diverts Cement Water Into Jambhulwadi Lake, Activist Raises Concern
A Ready Mix Concrete plant near Jambhulwadi Lake is currently diverting cement water into nearby drains that eventually lead to Jambhulwadi Lake, as well as nearby wells and borewells.
“Both the Jambhulwadi area and the talav (lake) have now fallen under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), which has taken responsibility for them. What action is PMC now planning against RMC plants operating in the area which is polluting the natural body, ” stated Rupesh Kesekar, coordinator, Prapancha.
This situation highlights the increasing environmental concerns in Pune, where local authorities are being pressed to take concrete actions against those polluting natural water sources.
