Dr Chandrakant Mhaske, who was appointed as Dean of BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital hardly 22 days ago, was replaced by Dr Eknath Pawar, a professor and head of the Orthopaedics department at Grant Government Medical College and JJ Hospital, Mumbai.

As to the acquired information, Sassoon Hospital has gained media attention because of Lalit Patil, a drug mafia figure, and the subsequent hit-and-run incident in Pune.

It is worthy to note that a few days ago,  Dr Chandrakant Mhaske was appointed as the Dean of Sassoon Hospital and was given a temporary assignment. He is currently the Dean of Baramati Medical College and has been transferred within a few days. Dr. Eknath Pawar, a professor at Grant Government College in Mumbai, has been appointed as the temporary Dean of Sassoon Hospital.

Locals are questioning why the government is not appointing a full-time dean or superintendent for such an important post, as it is a temporary appointment.

Joining today, Dr Pawar aims to do good work there and will be assisted by senior doctors in the orthopaedics department during his absence at Grant Government Medical College and JJ Hospital.
