Residents of Mohamadwadi, particularly near Raheja Vista Premier and Ghule Circle, have been grappling with a persistent drainage problem for the past six months. The issue has resulted in continuous water accumulation on the roads, creating a breeding ground for stagnant and foul-smelling water.

Adding to the concern is a pit that has been dug for the past 15 days, exacerbating the problem by allowing stagnant water to collect, posing a potential health hazard to the entire community, especially amid the rapid spread of diseases like Zika virus.

D Garhiwala, a concerned resident of Mohamadwadi, expressed frustration over the lack of action from authorities. She said, “despite reaching out to PMC engineers, residents found that they were unaware of effective measures to resolve the issue. Additionally, attempts to involve the MSB (Maharashtra Sewage Board) were unsuccessful as they claimed no jurisdiction over the matter.”

There are about 5000 flats in the surrounding area and since that’s the only road to travel the problem has become a hurdle to many people to travel.

In response to the escalating situation, Sanjay Ghule, a drainage engineer from Mohamadwadi PMC, assured residents that immediate action would be taken. He committed to addressing the issue promptly by raising it in the office the following day. The community remains hopeful for swift resolution from municipal authorities to alleviate the drainage woes plaguing Mohamadwadi. Effective measures are urgently needed to prevent further health risks and ensure a safe environment for all residents.

The NIBM Annexe Forum had also raised the issue on their X platform seeking solution to the chronic problem from Pune Municipal Corporation. But sadly there has been no response to the complaint Raises till date.
