Six individuals, including two children, tragically drowned after their boat capsized in the Ujani dam backwaters in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred amid strong winds and heavy rains, officials reported on Wednesday.

The boat, carrying seven passengers, overturned near Kalashi village close to Indapur Tehsil. Indapur tehsildar confirmed that the victims included three men, a woman, and two children. The boat service was operating between Kalashi and Bhugav villages when the accident happened.

Authorities quickly deployed teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for search and rescue operations. Local administration and police are also assisting in the efforts to recover the bodies and find the remaining missing person.
