As Pune prepares to host the revered processions of Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj on June 30, 2024, ensuring smooth traffic flow is paramount. The city’s administration has outlined comprehensive guidelines to manage vehicular movement during these significant events.

The guidelines are rooted in the Maharashtra Government’s Home Department Notification No. CMV/A/0196/871/C.R.-37/TRA-2 dated 27/09/1996, which empowers authorities to regulate traffic under sections 115, 116(1)(a)(b), 116(4), and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Their primary aim is to facilitate the safe passage of Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s processions through Pune city.

1. **Sant Shri Tukaram Maharaj’s Route**: The procession begins at Vitthal Temple Akurdi and traverses through Chinchwad, Pimpri, Vallabhnagar Nashik Phata, Fugewadi, Dapodi, Harris Bridge, Bopodi Chowk, Khadki Railway Station, and concludes at Engineering College Chowk.

2. **Sant Shri Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Route**: Commencing from Shri Kshetra Alandi, this route covers Vadgaon Maval, Chauphula Phata, Dighi Magazine, Bopkhel Phata, B.E.G. Training Battalion No. 2, Mhaske Vasti, Kalas Odha, Vishrantwadi, Phulenagar, and also concludes at Engineering College Chowk.

During the event, specific roads along these routes will be closed to vehicular traffic. To mitigate congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow, alternative routes have been designated. It is crucial for commuters to follow these routes to avoid inconvenience.

The guidelines emphasize the proactive cooperation of all commuters and vehicle operators. By adhering to the prescribed alternative routes, residents and visitors can contribute to the success of the pilgrimage without disruptions.

Therefore, as Pune prepares to host these revered processions, the outlined traffic guidelines are essential for ensuring public safety and minimizing traffic disruptions. Residents are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with traffic authorities for a seamless experience during this auspicious occasion.

By following these guidelines, Pune city can effectively manage the influx of pilgrims and maintain its vibrant spirit of cultural heritage and reverence.
