The laborer slept with a banner over his body to protect himself from the rain. But the unidentified vehicle driver did not see it under the banner. He died after a wheel went over his head.

In a devastating incident in Pimpri, tragedy struck on Monday morning as a young laborer lost his life due to a fatal accident caused by a vehicle. Kapil Vilas Ankure, a 21-year-old resident of Bori, Parbhani, met with an untimely demise when an unidentified vehicle ran over him around 9:30 AM near Alandi Bus Stand.
According to Senior Inspector Vijay Dhamal of Dighi Police Station, the incident occurred in an open field where Kapil had sought shelter from the rain by wrapping himself in a banner. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle failed to notice Kapil lying underneath the banner, resulting in the vehicle’s wheel fatally striking his head.
The discovery of Kapil’s body was made after a concerned citizen named Ashok alerted the police control room about the unfortunate incident. Senior police officials promptly responded to the scene, where they found Kapil’s lifeless body under the protective cover of the banner. Despite efforts to save him, Kapil succumbed to severe head injuries sustained from the accident.
Post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as head trauma inflicted by the vehicle’s wheel. Remarkably, there were no other injuries found on Kapil’s body, underscoring the tragic nature of the incident.
The circumstances surrounding Kapil’s death have deeply affected the local community, particularly as it occurred during a rainy day when many laborers, like Kapil, use banners and plastic for shelter in open grounds. Such makeshift shelters are common among laborers seeking refuge from the elements while working in exposed areas.
As authorities continue their investigation to identify the vehicle and apprehend the driver responsible, the loss of Kapil Vilas Ankure serves as a poignant reminder of the risks faced by vulnerable workers, even in moments of seeking basic protection from adverse weather conditions.
The incident has prompted calls for increased awareness and safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future, as the community mourns the loss of a promising young individual whose life was cut short in a heart-wrenching accident.
