In a significant political development, Vasant More of Pune is poised to align himself with the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction, marking a shift from his previous political endeavors. More is scheduled to meet former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today at Matoshree, the Thackeray family residence, at 12:30 PM.

Accompanying Vasant More will be prominent Shiv Sena leaders including MP Sanjay Raut and Deputy Leader Sajan Pachpute, signaling a formal engagement with the Shiv Sena party structure. Sources suggest that More’s potential move to join Shiv Sena’s ranks is in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, where strategic alliances and candidature decisions are crucial.

During the Lok Sabha elections, Vasant More’s political aspirations led him to explore various options within the Mahavikas Aghadi coalition. Despite initial efforts and consultations with key figures like Sharad Pawar and Sanjay Raut, More contested independently under Prakash Amdekar’s Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi banner after failing to secure a nomination from the Mahavikas Aghadi.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, however, neither More’s candidature nor that of Ravindra Dhangekar, backed by the Mahavikas Aghadi, yielded victory in Pune, where BJP’s Muralidhar Mohol emerged victorious.

More’s anticipated alignment with Shiv Sena’s Thackeray faction underscores a strategic realignment within Maharashtra’s political landscape, setting the stage for intriguing dynamics as the state approaches critical electoral challenges.
