Pune: Viman Nagar Society Urges Traffic Police for Speed Breaker Installation to Prevent Accidents

The Shubh Gateway Co-operative Housing Society in Pune has officially requested the installation of a speed bump at the exit gate of its premises to enhance the safety of its residents. The request was made in a letter dated June 20, 2024, and addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic).

A resident mentioned, “The exit gate of our society opens onto a main road that has a blind spot for the traffic approaching from the right-hand side. This blind spot poses a significant risk of accidents, as vehicles exiting our premises often have difficulty in gauging the speed and distance of oncoming traffic.”

Residents have reported several near-miss incidents, heightening fears that without preventive measures, a serious accident is imminent. Society believes that installing a speed bump before the blind spot would significantly reduce the risk of high-speed collisions, giving drivers ample time to react safely. “After careful consideration and discussion among society members, we believe that installing a speed bump on the main road at a strategic point before the blind spot would greatly enhance the safety of our residents. The management committee has requested an urgent site inspection to evaluate the feasibility and optimal placement of the speed bump. They are ready to cooperate with the traffic department to expedite the process, emphasizing the urgency of the matter for the well-being of their community.”

We look forward to a positive response and are hopeful that the Pune City Traffic Department will take swift action to address our safety concerns, undersigned by the society’s Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer.
