Additional Sessions Judge PP Jadhav has sentenced Tulsi Pappu Babar (32), a resident of Chikhli, to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for the murder of Paigamber Gulab Mujawar (35). Mujawar’s wife filed the complaint at Pimpri Police Station, leading to the investigation.

Mujawar and Tulsi worked together at a clothing shop in Chinchwad. Mujawar, a married man, developed an affair with Tulsi. When Mujawar refused Tulsi’s marriage proposal, she threatened to kill him. Mujawar’s wife was aware of the affair, which caused frequent arguments between the couple.

On August 13, 2021, Tulsi invited Mujawar to a lodge in Chinchwad, where a heated argument ensued. In a fit of rage, Tulsi strangled Mujawar with a rope, killing him. The incident was investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Londhe, who later filed a charge sheet in court.

Additional public prosecutor Namdev Taralgatti presented the case on behalf of the government, bringing forth ten witnesses, including two lodge workers and employees of the clothing shop. Their testimonies, along with other evidence, played a crucial role in the conviction.

The court’s decision included a fine of Rs 1 lakh, and in case of non-payment, Tulsi would serve an additional six months in prison. Senior Inspector Ashok Kadalag and employee B T Bhosale from Pimpri Police Station assisted in the court proceedings.
