Pune: The New year 2023 is round the corner and restaurants are ready to welcome the customers who would like to celebrate the festive season in a memorable manner.

Security arrangements have been tightened by the local government authorities and regular guidelines have been issued to the restaurants and bars.  Though no new restrictions have been issued, the state government has asked the authorities concerned to be cautious in the wake of rising Covid cases in other countries. Only the state excise department has given permissions to hotels and bars to remain open till 5 AM next day on 24, 25 and 31.

“No new restrictions have been issued to the hotel, bar and restaurants. We have held meetings with the hotel owners regarding the celebration and told them to follow necessary guidelines.  At public places, we will be having police bandobast,” said Ankit Goyal, Superintendent of Police, Rural Police, Pune district.

Pune Pulse spoke to Amit Sharma, president, Poona Hoteliers Association, he said, “The Maharashtra state excise department has issued the guidelines to keep restaurants and bars open till 5 o’clock in morning on the next day on 24, 25 and 31 December. We have welcomed the decision. Yet the local authorities have not issued any new guidelines.”

He added, “People have given good support and compared to last year, we have ample bookings. In Pune, people are partying and this year is quite different from the last two years. But restaurants are geared up to welcome the new year with style and great hospitality.”
