Indore witnessed a heart-wrenching scene on Friday when retired soldier Balwinder Singh Chhabra collapsed on stage during a patriotic performance at a yoga event. Chhabra was performing to the song ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ at a free yoga camp organized by Aastha Yoga Kranti Abhiyan at Agrasen Dham in the city’s Futi Kothi area.

In a tragic twist, the audience initially believed his fall to be part of the act and continued clapping for over a minute before realizing something was terribly wrong. Chhabra had suffered a heart attack and died on the spot.

A video of the incident shows Chhabra enthusiastically dancing and waving the Indian flag. At one point, he even steps off the stage to encourage the audience to clap along. However, about three minutes into his performance, he begins to sway and suddenly collapses, still holding the Tricolour.

For over a minute, the audience clapped, assuming it was part of the performance. Eventually, one of the organizers, RK Jain, noticed something was amiss. He walked up to Chhabra, checked on him, and realized the severity of the situation. Jain later revealed that Chhabra had undergone bypass surgery in 2008.

The event, which was intended to promote yoga and patriotism, ended on a somber note as attendees processed the sudden loss of the dedicated retired soldier.
