Shivarkar garden now has a wheelchair friendly swing and merry go round

For the first time, Vitthalrao Shivarkar garden in Wanowrie will have a separate area for children specially dedicated for people with disabilities to play.

The initiative was taken by Pune based Ekansh Trust to install such equipments where children with disabilities can also play swing and merry go round without any discomfort.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Anita Iyer from Ekansh Trust said, “The equipment has been donated by Ekansh Trust and has taken tremendous efforts in building it so that it’s safe and durable too. The equipments were fabricated in Chakan. Visitors should use ensure that only children with disabilities are using it as it’s being custom made for them to enjoy.”

Iyer further said, “We are fortunate that we got a separate section at Shivarkar garden. But the idea is not to separate them from other children.
Both kids with and without disabilities can play together but it must be used carefully so it is isn’t damaged.”
