Siblings Kidnapped with Car as Parents Go to Buy Sweets; Safe After High-Speed Chase

Date: July 1, 2024

A leisurely family outing turned into a harrowing ordeal for a businessman and his family from Gurgaon. The family was visiting Delhi for street food on Friday. Their 11-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son were abducted in Shakarpur, as the parents briefly left them in their vehicle near a sweet shop. The kidnapper seized the car and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for their safe return.

Fortunately, Delhi Police swiftly mobilized teams using advanced technical surveillance. Joint Commissioner of Police organized teams to support both parents. Police initiated pursuit of the family’s vehicle through data tracking.

Throughout the intense three-hour chase spanning over 80 kilometers, the father maintained crucial phone contact with the kidnapper.

Despite the kidnapper managing to escape, the children were found unharmed in Samaypur Badli. The car was found abandoned. Police recovered valuables, including jewelry and mobile phones, left intact in the vehicle. This was due to the kidnapper’s haste during the pursuit from multiple directions, by the Police.

“We found a few valuables, including jewelry and mobile phones, intact in the car because the kidnapper had no opportunity to take anything while being pursued by the police,” Officer confirmed. Raids were ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect, he added.

Addressing concerns about the nature of the kidnapping, police indicated it seemed impulsive. The kidnapper opportunistically probably took advantage of the running vehicle.

The swift response of Delhi Police ensured the safe return of the children, showcasing their effective coordination and surveillance capabilities in handling such critical situations.
