As per the sources, the terminal is expected to get ready in three years. Along with the platform, foot over bridge, parking space, and restrooms will be constructed. The administration is also planning to provide free Wi-fi facility.

The railway is planning to get back the land given to the defence department near its Khadki premises and construct the terminal there.

“Once the terminal is approved, it will help to reduce the load of the Pune station,” said Renu Sharma, Pune Divisional Railway Manager.

Many trains will start from Khadki instead of Pune station once the terminal is ready. This is sure to be welcomed by the residents of Pimpri Chinchwad.

Khadki railway station has four platforms out of which two are used for trains while one platform is used for goods trains and one platform is used for railway-level platforms.

As of now, a total of 26 local trains and 4 express trains stop at the Khadki railway station every day.
