In a touching Instagram post, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli expressed his deep gratitude and love for his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, following India’s T20 World Cup victory in the Caribbean. This heartfelt message comes as Kohli celebrates one of the most significant triumphs of his career.
Earlier, Anushka Sharma shared her joy on Instagram, revealing how their daughter Vamika was concerned for the Indian players seen crying after the win. “Our daughter’s biggest concern was if all the players had someone to hug them after she saw them cry on TV… Yes, my darling, they were hugged by 1.5 billion people. What a phenomenal victory and what a legendary achievement!! CHAMPIONS – CONGRATULATIONS!!” Anushka wrote.
In a separate post dedicated to Kohli, she expressed her love and playfully reminded him to celebrate, writing, “AND… I love this man @virat.kohli. So grateful to call you my home – now go have a glass of sparkling water for me to celebrate this!”
After, achievement of his dream of winning the T20 World Cup, Kohli confirmed his retirement from the format at the international level. He announced after the match. “This was my last T20 World Cup and this is what we wanted to achieve,”
Kohli said in a chat with broadcasters. “One day you feel you can’t get a run, then things happen. God is great, and I got the job done for the team on the day it mattered. Now or never, this was my last T20 for India, and I wanted to make the most of it. I wanted to respect the situation rather than force it.”
Kohli emphasized that his retirement was an open secret. He expressed confidence in the next generation of players. “It’s time for the next generation to take over. Some amazing players will take the team forward and keep the flag waving high,” he added.
