After a nearly four-month pause, Pune Metro has started working on the entry-exit point of Yerwada metro station again and is currently redesigning the staircase design.

Residents’ complaints that the staircase was reducing the width of the main road and creating traffic jams had put a stop to the work in November. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) then voiced their objection to the same.

There are two entry and exit points at each metro station. While work has been completed on all of the entry and exit points along Pune Metro line 1 from Vanaz to Ramwadi, there is still work to be done on one entry and exit point at Yerawada metro station, which is situated about 300 meters ahead of Parnakuti police chowki on Ahmednagar Road. The other entry-exit point of the Yerawada metro station, which is next to the PMC Yerawada Kalas Dhanori ward office, has already been finished.

Officials from the PMC and Pune Metro have held multiple meetings and shared updated plans for the entry-exit point since the work stopped in November. Pune Metro has finally made the decision to rearrange the entry-exit point in order to address the issue of traffic congestion.

According to a Pune Metro official, they finalized a revised plan after consulting with locals and officials from the PMC road department. The pillars marking the entry and exit points will be moved to avoid obstructing traffic. It will take more than a month to finish the work that has already begun.

Yerawada on the Pune-Ahmednagar National Highway experiences heavy traffic flow all the time. In light of this, the Pune Metro and PMC are collaborating on a plan that calls for the installation of pedestrian stairs, escalators, and lifts on both sides of the metro station.

Maha Metro officials claim that with the completion of the Ruby Hall to Ramwadi stretch, the Pune Metro has reached important milestones. They are holding off on starting the stretch until after the election code of conduct takes effect. They are currently running from Vanaz to Ruby Hall.

The 5.5-kilometer Ruby Hall to Ramwadi section is prepared for passenger traffic to start. Plans for a feeder bus service in association with Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) have been spurred by the strategic location of the Yerawada metro station, which is about 4.8 km from Pune Airport. This service will enable rapid and effective connectivity between Yerawada metro station and the airport. The airport has designed two bus bays and special feeder bus stops to improve accessibility.
