The accident occurred around 11 PM when a Swift Dzire entered the highway from the wrong side after refueling and collided with an Ertiga, resulting in six fatalities and five injuries.

A fatal collision occurred last night, on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway near Kadwanchi village in Jalna district. The incident occurred around 11pm, approximately 400 km from Mumbai. 

The accident happened, when a Swift Dzire entered the highway from the wrong side after refueling and rammed into an Ertiga traveling to Mumbai from Nagpur.

The impact was so severe that the Ertiga flew into the air, landing on the highway barricade. The passengers were ejected onto the road. The Swift Dzire was reduced to a mangled heap of metal. 

Six people died on the spot, and visuals from the scene showed their bloodied bodies lying on the highway.

Emergency responders from the Samruddhi Highway Police and Jalna Police quickly arrived at the scene. A crane was used to remove the wrecked vehicles, and the injured were transported to the district hospital for treatment.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg or Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, is a partially functional six-lane. It is 701-km-long and access-controlled expressway in Maharashtra. It is also, one of the country’s longest greenfield road projects. Samruddhi Mahamarg connects Mumbai with Nagpur, the state’s third-largest city.
